How to maintain succulents?

【About Growing New Roots】

Generally, if the succulents you buy are beheaded, you need to check whether the wound is dry. If the wound is dry, you can put the beheaded succulents directly in the pot for new roots. The pots with new roots need to be kept moisturized frequently (do not overwater, the potting soil should be moist). Moisture can promote the succulents to grow roots as soon as possible. After the succulents have roots, you can move them out and put them in the pots you want to maintain.

【About the soil for succulents】

It is recommended to use a mixture of granules (medicine stone/zeolite/river sandstone/volcanic rock/any available granules) and soil (succulent soil/fine soil/peat) (1:1) to make the substrate, which is suitable for most succulents plant growth needs. For cities with a dry environment, it is necessary to increase the moisture retention of the soil (adding vermiculite/perlite); for cities with wet and rainy conditions, it is necessary to improve the drainage performance of the soil (multi-granular).

【About watering】

The principle of watering succulents is to water less and water thoroughly every time to avoid root rot and black rot caused by water accumulation in the pot. Excessive moisture is not conducive to the shape of succulents and may cause them to grow excessively.

Spring and autumn are the growing seasons of succulents, and the best time to water is when the leaves below begin to shrivel; summer is the dormant season of succulents, and spray watering is the main way to keep the surface of the potting soil moist; in winter, watering should be reduced Water frequently to avoid frostbite on succulents.

After the rain, be sure to clean off the water droplets on the succulents, or directly cover the rain before it rains, and try not to water the succulent leaves when watering!

【About lighting】

Among the succulents, the growth of sedum plants requires sufficient light, and too little light or a dark environment will lead to excessive growth. Therefore, when raising succulents, it is suitable to place them in a sunny place, and full sun is the best.

If the temperature is too high in summer, it is necessary to use a shading net with a shading rate of 60%-70%, and avoid sun exposure at noon to avoid sunburn on the leaves of succulents; in other seasons, they can fully receive sunlight.

The brocade succulents should be protected from the sun all year round. In winter, 20%-30% of sunscreen nets can be used for full sun exposure, or they can be placed in a place where they can be exposed to the sun in the morning and avoid the sun at noon. In summer, it is recommended to use an 80%-90% sun protection net and avoid sun exposure at noon.
